RMB-denominated Securities Trading
  1. What kind of trading channels can I use to place RMB-denominated securities?

1. What kind of trading channels can I use to place RMB-denominated securities?

You can place trading orders on RMB-denominated securities through your Account Executive;

You can also place trading orders through our online channel such as GCap's Internet trading platform at www.guococap.com , iPhone / Android trading platform, and Quick Trade trading platform.

2. What type of account do I need in order to trade RMB-denominated securities?

You will need to have opened and maintain a Custodian Account in order to trade RMB-denominated securities.

Currently, RMB-denominated securities cannot be traded through a Margin Account. If you have only opened and maintain a Margin Account with GCap, you must open a Custodian account in order to trade RMB-denominated securities.

3. Do I need to have sufficient CNY funds in order to trade RMB-denominated securities?

Yes, you must have sufficient available CNY funds in your securities trading account in order to trade RMB-denominated securities. You can deposit the CNY funds to the RMB bank account no. (#003-447-0-778159-3) of "GuocoCapital Limtied" in Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. Please inform your designated Account Executive after fund deposit and fax your remittance advice to the attention of Accounts Department at (852) 2285 3128.

4. How can I withdraw CNY funds from my Securities Account?

You can instruct us to withdraw CNY funds from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) by the following means:

  • Visit our office in person during office hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; complete the withdrawal form and return to us.
  • Post the fund withdrawal form to our office address: 12thFloor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong. Attn.: Customer Service Department. (Forms are available upon request)
  • Give verbal instruction through our voice-recorded office telephone to your Account Executive
You must provide to GCap a RMB bank account opened in Hong Kong. Please note the cut-off time of CNY fund withdrawal is 3 p.m on each trading day.

5. What currency will be used for settlement of RMB-denominated securities trading?

RMB-denominated securities trading will be settled in CNY. All transaction fees will be calculated using the exchange rate on T day which will be used for all RMB-denominated securities transactions executed on the same day.

The exchange rate will be published on the HKEx website by 11 am or earlier on each trading day. Accordingly, if you place order in our Internet trading platform in the morning, there may be slight discrepancy in trading related fees displayed due to variation in exchange rate. For actual charges, please refer to your Daily Trade Confirmation and Daily Statement.

6. How can I identify my RMB transactions on my account statement?

If you have done any RMB-denominated transactions including fund deposit/withdrawal, you will receive a statement of account expressed in RMB with currency code of "CNY" printed on the upper right hand corner of your daily / monthly account statement.
